A series of artworks created during a Cape Town - Shanghai Artist Residency. South African artist duo Warther Dixon, whose practice encompasses mirror and light based sculpture have created six unique artworks inspired by the re-imagining of Handel’s Semele Opera.
Each work is conceived of as a portrait of the central characters of the opera. The reflective quality of polished brass allows the viewer to see themselves in the mirror of Jupiter, Semele, Juno, Somnus, Iris and Ino.

This series was exhibited on the 08th and 09th November 2019 at Shanghai Concert Hall, Shanghai as part of the reimagining of Handel’s Opera Semele in a Solo Exhibition of artworks inspired by the opera.
